Parsons is seeking candidates to support site engineering operations in Western Canada. Most work is being performed within the Province of Alberta and is supported from Calgary. The position requires highly motivated, self driven, technically competent individuals, with oil sands industry experience.

The Architect is responsible for implementing, monitoring and facilitating standard practices as they relate to major projects within the oil sands industry.

Qualifications

Required KNOWLEDGE, qualifications, skills, and experiences:

* Excellent communication skills (Verbal, oral and written)
*
Thorough and working knowledge of:

· Oil sands industry Architectural principles, theories, concepts and practices

· Alberta environmental and building codes, certifications (ABSA), standards and trade practices

*
BS or MS degree in Architecture is required.

*
The proven ability to build team consensus, successfully lead within a matrix organization, motivate others and to consistently meet objectives.

*
10+ years of professional experience in the oil sands industry, at least 5 of which should include managing or supervising others.

*
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs, Lotus Notes, etc.

Need

The Resident Architect will be responsible for interior systems, providing Construction Management (Agency) and Quality Assurance Services on medical facility project.

Responsibilities include oversight of the owner's construction effort, including the technical liaison between the owner, general contractor, user, and related agencies. Oversight involves Quality Assurance over the physical work installed; reviews of codes, proposals, submittals; interpretation of contract documents and the contractor's correspondence/technical/financial/schedule submissions, identifying potential progress delays, job files, and making recommendations to the client.

* 10+ years of Architecture experience
* Accredited degree in Architecture
* Registered Architect is preferred
* Medical facility experience with multiple assignments focused on interior systems in hospital environments. Operating Room Design/Contract Administration/Construction Phase Oversight experience.

* Fluency in Microsoft Office applications
* Possess a working knowledge of scheduling applications (including review and evaluation); be able to produce construction change cost estimates; and understand the quality assurance process.
* The candidate should be assertive, demonstrate leadership, possess the ability to problem solve; Individuals should be highly motivated and possess good written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilsities:

1. Organize, develop and document facility master plans and standards for Education & Office Buildings based on extensive information gathering, analysis and recommendations.

2. Review and/or coordinate implementation of facility strategic plans as a basis for establishing facility master planning goals.

3. Develop recommendations and priorities as a basis for preparing architectural solutions to physical facility problems.

4. Prepare architectural programs (space program) for both facility master plans and for specific projects defining spaces and square footage to be utilized in design solutions.

5. Develop architectural design solutions for facility master plans including appropriate phasing and development schedules.

6. Participate in existing facility evaluations as preparatory information gathering towards design solutions.

7. Work closely with in-house and/or consulting architects and engineers in the development of both mater plans and specific projects.

8. Assist in marketing the firm's continuum of services and in developing existing as well as new clients.

9. Prepare documentation for planning services using the following computer programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Auto CAD.

10. Be responsible for leading interview sessions with clients during information gathering and display strong communication skills in documenting client contacts and interviews.

11. Research codes and guidelines relative to Education & Office Buildings design as appropriate to develop constructible master plan solutions.

12. Develop basic Concept level planning sketches and diagrams to document client issues and communicate and illustrate potential design solutions.

13. Assist the Education & Office Buildings in activities concerning approvals from local authorities, Education & Office Buildings Clients, committees and Client owners.

Qualifications

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

· An undergraduate degree in architecture from an accredited university.

· A minimum of 10 years experience in the planning and design of Education & Office Buildings and facility standards.

· A demonstrated knowledge of Education & Office Buildings Facility Master Planning and Feasibility Studies, architectural programming and conceptual/preliminary design of Education & Office Buildings projects.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Requires proficiency in the application of architectural design standards, practices, and techniques, as well as a demonstrated proficiency in sketching, rendering, model-building, and presentation drawing. Proficiency in CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with architectural design is also required.
