		<title>Accountant, Senior Job (Pasadena, CA, US)</title>
		<description><![CDATA[POSITION OVERVIEW   :   <br/><br/>  Completes a broad range of difficult assignments requiring specialized accounting training and experience.  May be assigned to a specific project, to a section of the Finance or another department, or may be assigned to complete tasks at a field <b>Location:</b>.  The Accountant at this level works independently in completing assigned tasks.  <br/><br/>  Develops implements and maintains cost control, and/or provides centralized planning and scheduling function on smaller projects worth less than $10 million total installed cost, or assists senior Project Control Engineer/Specialist with assigned segments of larger projects.  At this level, the Accountant has sufficient training, technical expertise and familiarity with company policies and procedures to work mostly independently on assigned projects.  Some rotational experience may be through the Estimating, Cost engineering, and Planning/Scheduling cost centers.  Assignments require the use of a personal computer and a working knowledge of software used in the Project Controls Department, such as Excel, Primavera, and PRISM. <br/><br/>    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES   :   <br/><br/>  Audits accounts and other financial information for completeness, accuracy and legitimacy of charges, and conformance with accounting procedures.  <br/><br/>  Generates and analyzes periodic financial reports, making recommendations regarding status of reserves and assets.  <br/><br/>  Closes the general ledger for each period, prepares financial statements, and completes a detailed analysis of account balances.  <br/><br/>  Prepares selected tax returns, financial reports, and other government agency, client, and senior management reports.  <br/><br/>  Develops and recommends improvements to accounting methods and procedures for area of responsibility.  <br/>  Develops and maintains the cost control portion of project management, as well as the department and Company management, with the necessary tools for project cost control.  <br/><br/>  Accumulates and accesses historical data, such as performance experience, for use in maintaining a realistic basis for future planning and forecasting. <br/><br/>Prepares graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate cost status, trends and forecast requirements for Project Management and client. <br/><br/> Performs analytical review and arithmetic checks of reporting documentation.  <br/>  Prepare cost estimates for upcoming projects within the organization.  Also coordinates with Procurement for project bidding and buyout.  <br/>  Monitor and establish budgets/forecasts for individual jobs.  <br/>  Reviews and addresses Online Check Requests and Online Expense Reports.  <br/>  Inputs new WBS, cost codes, and cost types within the financial systems.  <br/>  Review invoices each month to insure proper coding is used and that employees are charging to the correct Job/WBS/Cost Code/Cost Type in accordance with cost accounting policies. May travel to remote field sites to conduct audits and assist field personnel in the execution of their duties. <br/><br/>Work with the clients to review progress billings, negotiate short-pays and discuss proper payment of the short-pays.  <br/>  Establishes and maintains liaison with the various company departments and engineering discipline staffs  <br/>  Coordinate with Contracts to discuss levels of funding and determine the percent completes and when we need to approach the client for additional funding.  <br/>  Work with Procurement to establish subcontracts with the necessary vendors to compliant with the Policies and Procedures.  Review subcontractor invoices for accuracy and for submittal to the client.  <br/>  Assist construction personnel with general technical support and/or construction planning, and scheduling in support of projects and/or proposals.  <br/>  Monitors material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.  <br/><br/> Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. <br/><br/>   PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:        <br/>  4-year degree in Accounting, Economics, Business, Construction Management (or equivalent) and 3-5 years of related work experience.   <br/><br/>    SKILLS/COMPETENCIES   :      <br/>  Requires a proficiency in standard accounting techniques and principles, strong written and oral communication skills, and a proficiency in PC software packages typically associated with accounting.  <br/><br/>  Familiarization with the Construction Industry.]]></description>
