Opportunity

POSITION OVERVIEW :

A Task Manager position that requires independent direction of a wide variety of more difficult and complex geological tasks including field tasks as related to characterizing soil and groundwater contamination. Performs as a fully qualified professional proficient in the use of most geologic theories and practices. Some assignments involve the use of computer software applications (including spreadsheets, CAD, aquifer test analysis, etc.), as well as interpreting the results of computer modeling of groundwater flow patterns and soil data for evaluation of remedial alternatives. Willingness to periodically travel and manage field activities at sites is expected as well as preparing detailed reports describing field activities.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

Performs independent field work and gathers all types of field data pertinent to the assigned project.
Performs geological, hydrogeologic, and hydrochemistry analyses.
Develops materials and completes reports on finished field work.
Prepares geologic reports (e.g Remedial Investigation reports, groundwater monitoring reports, ect.) with some technical oversight.
Prepares and delivers technical papers.
Assists in preparation of proposals and cost estimates to clients and in soliciting bids from subcontractors/suppliers.
May supervise one or more lower-level Geologists or Technicians, including reviewing geologic analyses (soil boring logs, groundwater monitoring data, etc.), assessments, interpretations, and other types of reports.
May serve in an advisory capacity to senior management on specific geology-related matters.
May manage site investigation projects of varying size.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

4-year degree in Geology or related science degree
5-10 years of related work experience
Certification as a professional Geologist is preferred but not mandatory--progress toward a state license will be considered part of the performance evalution process

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Proficiency in various computer software applications typically used in geological analyses is required.

Also requires a demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills
Thorough understanding of related environmental rules and regulations.
