Principal Construction Scheduler Job

Position Overview:

Provide construction scheduling support services on a large water/wastewater Capital Improvement Program. This position will require the ability to analyze contractor developed construction baseline schedules and evaluation of monthly updates for logic, duration changes, constructability and work flow layout. The analysis may include the evaluation of cost and resource loaded schedules. Float trend analyses will be required on a monthly basis for each project. An analysis of the Contractor's recovery schedules will be required whenever progress is delayed and mitigation measures are necessary.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop, establish, and maintain all aspects of the planning/scheduling effort on more than one large complex and demanding project. Incumbent will utilize his/her experience, expertise, and exposure to various types of projects and clients to support the program.

Provides guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult and complex project construction scheduling problems. Interfaces with clients, attends regular construction meetings, and provides statistical reports.

Provides project and company management with the necessary tools for project schedule control. May participate in the development of the work breakdown structure and interfacing with all affected departments.

May lead a team who are qualified to analyze, evaluate, and forecast project costs/schedule performance. Coordinates staffing requirements, assigns and supervises project work activities, and trains personnel as necessary. Completes performance reviews and provides personnel development for the assigned employees.

Accumulates and accesses historical data, such as performance experience, for use in maintaining a realistic basis for future planning and forecasting.

Qualified to analyze, evaluate, forecast, and report schedule status against an established baseline. Assesses the impact(s) of design/construction changes and schedule slippages. Develops or maintains an established system to show the hierarchy of plans and schedules; keeps project and company management fully informed.

Customizes project control systems to meet specific project requirements.

May serve as a lead Project Control Engineer, if project requirements dictate.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

4-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or related field) and 10-12 years of related work experience.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :

Requires basic engineering knowledge in electrical, mechanical, civil, or a related field. Proficient PC skills including a proficiency in various software used in the Project Controls Department, such as Excel, Primavera, and Document and Materials Controls System (DMCS). Leadership potential, as well as familiarity with industry practices is required.
