Opportunity
POSITION OVERVIEW :
Under close supervision, performs a variety of geological and field tasks by applying basic geological techniques and analyses. The Geologist at this level is in a developmental mode, being trained in the utilization of relevant geological and/or hydrogeological theories and practices, and gaining exposure to Company procedures. Some assignments involve the use of computer software applications (e.g., spreadsheets, CAD, aquifer test analysis, etc.). Willingness to travel and/or relocate to field sites is expected.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
Conduct a mix of field tasks and office work
Groundwater and soil sampling, treatment plant upgrades/repairs, report writing, spreadsheet and data manipulation, oversight of subcontractors, well drilling oversight, well log preparation
Performs various field and office tasks requiring the application of basic geological principles and fundamental theories. Applies available data pertinent to geology and/or hydrogeology, accurately describing and classifying soil and rock samples
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
4-year degree in Geology or related field (geology, environmental science, chemistry ,biology)
1 to 5 years related work experience
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Enthusiastic, motivated, and willing to conduct a mix of field tasks and office work (groundwater and soil sampling, treatment plant upgrades/repairs)
Good basic software skills, including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, graphics/CAD/GIS would be a plus. Familiarity with Access would be helpful
Good writing and communication skills
40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus
