Safety Engineer Job

POSITION OVERVIEW :
Under the general direction of the Safety Manager (or Senior Safety Specialist on larger job sites), ensures that the safety plan reflects corporate policy and complies with the prevailing safety requirements for the region. On projects where there is no Senior Safety Specialist, may assist senior construction site representative in the establishment and implementation of a job safety program.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
Advise on potential hazards at work site. Assists PM and RE's in development and review of the PSP, supports Resident Engineer in implementing the PSP. Has overall responsibility for the administration of the Safety, Health and Environmental program. Audits against the PSP to ensure project is in compliance with corporate SH&E requirements. Provides the project with health and safety technical support as required. Review safety requirements in Method Statements. Review 'Permit to Work' applications. Check proper maintenance, calibration and operation of all safety equipment. Inspect site security, fire, First Aid and welfare facilities and procedures appropriate to the Works are provided and properly maintained. Carry out and record regular site safety inspections for compliance. Lead, assist and/or participate in site safety training. With assistance of the project management, investigate all accidents and dangerous occurrences. Set a high personal example of Health & Safety at all times.
Bachelors Degree (4 years) or equivalent from an accredited university with 5 years Safety experience or Associates Degree (2 years) from an accredited university with 8 years Safety experience-education curriculum must be in Safety or Engineering preferably Civil Engineering. Safety training and certifications from recognized institutes. 4 years direct and related experience at applied category. Relevant IT skills / computer literate. Must be able to competently read, write and speak English language. Must possess a valid GCC Driving License or be ready to test for obtaining one at time of employment.
